The Utopians come back from time travelling, to find out their planet is no more and everyone died. (We find this out when the Utopians explain that, later on the Deponians/Elysians launch Elysium directly into their planet. So, lets assume his plan keeps Deponia alive) which obviously works and it ends up working too well, since, it actually causes Elysium to crash into Utopia and killing everyone including the planet. Since, Rufus seems to be incapable of such destruction without multiple atom bombs. Then what would happen is that Rufus makes it on to Elysium and he ends up creating a plan to launch Elysium (not sure fully if Deponia would get destroyed in the process. If this did not happen and we got our "happy" ending, that I wish we got (before I found this bit of info out) if we take into account the 4th game, which, by the way is actually one of the worse endings of them all (the creators were nice enough to spare us from seeing this ending). (I will explain why this is the case soon) To further this tragic ending Elysium crashes back into Deponia killing everyone except Goal and most likely wiped out all the Deponians but not the planet. This ending is tragic because Rufus dies and Cletus takes Rufus' place and Rufus loses everything, including his life and identity. To start off, the canon ending which is the actual one. Rufus and Goal are stuck in the time loop forever. Rufus and Goal fall from the time machine leading to Rufus, later, destroying Deponia. Rufus lived and is now on Elysium with Goal, happily ever after(?) I will explain the question mark soon Rufus dies after sacrificing himself to save everyone. This is because people forget one little detail (probably was overlooked or no one caught on to it), which actually made me more sad about the ending because no matter what, the ending is tragic for everyone.
